Soarin'™ Attraction Description

Sure, the idea of hang gliding sounds spectacular -- all except the part about being in the air without a plane. For those who'd like the experience without the abject terror, there's Disney's Soarin'. The virtual ride astounds guests of all ages, sending them "air borne" via suspended vehicles hovering before aerial footage projected on a giant, bowl-shaped screen. The sensation is of being truly aloft -- wind in your hair, water at your feet -- but with your tootsies, if not firmly on the ground, at least within a few feet of it.

Kid Tips

Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids who want to maximize thrills can take a seat in row 1, which rises the highest in the air. After Soarin', head to the Living with the Land boat ride -- older kids are fascinated by the futuristic gardening.

Planning Notes

  • Join the crowd. Get the Fastpass® at the beginning of the day -- the wait for the ride can be upwards of 90 minutes, and they can run out in the afternoon.
  • Character alert. Consider making reservations for the Garden Grill Restaurant in the Land Pavilion with Soarin'. It's a character meet-and-greet hot spot.
  • No little little kids. The height requirement for Soarin' is 40 inches.
  • Not for the vertiginous. If your child is afraid of heights or prone to motion sickness, you might want to skip this ride.

What we loved:
EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!

What we didn't love:
Just the Lines

There are many reasons why Epcot is my favorite park hands down - and Soarin is no exception! You dont have to risk your own life to hang-glide over what makes California so unique including Disneyland, which is included at the conclusion of the ride. Unlike the herky-jerky simulator ride, such as the now-defunct Body Wars, Soarin provides a smooth, fleeting experience like no other IMAX simulator flyer has provided guests before. My mother who is prone to motion sickness rates it highly as her favorite of all the entire resorts rides! br/br/In short, this is a must when visiting Epcot! I strongly recommend you to get a Fastpass, as the stand-by lines stretch 75 minutes! Read More
