Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park Description
Disney's Animal Kingdom is like no other Disney World theme park. For starters, there's the pace: it's slow. With 1,500 animals spread over a vast "wilderness," it's designed for ambling through. Stop and admire the regal tigers in Asia, talk to the birds in the Oasis, and marvel at the artwork on the trunk of the man-made Tree of Life® attraction. Lands are set in lovely sun-baked "villages" that encourage you to stop and smell the roses. Not that it's all quiet time -- faux wildlife provides for some adrenaline-rushing fun, like creepy-crawlies on the hilarious "It's Tough to Be a Bug!®" attraction and the menacing Yeti of the park's only coaster, Expedition Everest -- Legend of the Forbidden Mountain® Expedition Everest® attraction.

Kid Tips
Babies: The pathways can be uneven - so be mindful with strollers and sleeping little ones.
Toddlers & Pre-K: Just right for little ones wanting a hands-on experience is the Affection Section, the park's petting zoo.
School-Age Kids: Kids will dig the Boneyard® Dig Site, where they can burrow for fossils and see how big dinosaur bones really are.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Head for Expedition Everest — your teens will love the coaster and the Yeti!
Planning Notes
- Plan ahead. Map out the rides and attractions you want to see. Take advantage of the Fastpass® service for the "must do" rides to save time.
- Go early. Disney's Animal Kingdom closes earlier than other parks -- usually 5 p.m. or 6 p.m.

Amazing Detail!

What we loved:
Lots to see and do, attention to detail, variety
What we didn't love:
Gets really hot, kind of hilly
I took my first visit last year and was quite impressed. We got there at park opening because what everyone says is true: It gets dang hot at Animal Kingdom during the day, even moreso than the other parks. All the natural vegetation acts a bit like insulation to it felt very tropical, even in September. Plus, the aromas get more pungent as things heat up, so keep that in mind if you are city folk! Get there early and split when it gets hot- we spent the afternoon in the pool. Many exotic countries are represented and wonderfully so, right down to native plants, worn looking buildings, wash hanging on a line, prayer flags and shrines and more. We stayed at Concierge level at our resort and got a great deal on a semi-private Safari tour with a small number of guests and one of the animal experts. We traveled off the main tour path and got some great close up views of the animals and some great pictures. I wish I could show more than one here! Its a bumpy ride either way, so look out. Yeti was a great coaster and we loved Kalis rapids. There was lots to see around every corner. We plan to dine at Jicos this year and are really looking forward to it! Read More
An Awesome Little Gem

What we loved:
the ambiance, how beautiful and green it is
What we didn't love:
still growing into itself- it would be nice if there was more to do
Our children range in age from 11 to 21 years and we all love the Animal Kingdom. Although there is quite a bit to do for families with much younger children, we obviously bypass all of that and focus on what we enjoy doing. We love to go to Animal Kingdom first thing in the morning when the air is cool and the animals are more active. Yes, the Safari is a must- fast pass it as soon as you get into the park, go do something else for a while, and then check back later. Our other favorites include Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids and the Finding Nemo show. The Yak and Yeti restaurant is very nice. Keep your eyes open and pay attention to the detail and beauty of the park. It is easily the prettiest of the four theme parks of Walt Disney World. If your child likes animals like our youngest, there are many opportunities to see animals up close in a natural habitat or in a rather informal performance. One day during our last trip to Walt Disney World, we went over just for the Nemo show and dinner and it was worth the trip. You can truly see everything you care to see in just half a day, so a parkhopper pass is the way to go. It is still a relativley small park in terms of how much there is to do for any specific age group, but it will keep growing. But bottom line, you dont want to miss a visit to this place! Read More

What we loved:
the freedom arround the animals
What we didn't love:
it was too hot
A very refreshing place. A way to bound with animals and to teach the childrens about the animal live and how interact with them. My daughter love animals so she was very curious about different species. She had a very good day in the park. Read More
