Museum of Science and Industry Description
A visit to this museum proves that science can be fun and infinitely engaging. Kids 8 and older will beeline for the exhibits in the main building, clambering to be the first to ride the high wire bicycle (suspended 30 feet above the ground) and delving into the interactive exhibits in The Amazing You. Younger kids will lose themselves in the Kids in Charge! area next door, tackling brain teasers, crawling through mazes, and making music in the SoundLab. Meet in the middle for a picnic lunch, then head back out for more fun.
Kid Tips
Babies: Stake out a spot in the Crawler's Club area of Kids In Charge!, which is designed exclusively for kids younger than 2.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids will enjoy the exhibits, but they'll go crazy for the IMAX Dome Theatre, the only one of its kind in Florida (one standard film included with admission).
Planning Notes
- Don't miss the BioWorks Butterfly Garden. Kids of all ages will be transfixed by the abundant butterflies in the Butterfly Garden (peaking during the summer, with minimal activity during the winter). All of the species are native to the Tampa area.
- Plan for the planetarium. Shows are presented daily at 2 p.m. during the week, and four times daily on Saturdays and Sundays (check the schedule upon arrival). One show is included with general admission.
- Dine in. The MOSI Cafe serves pizza, sandwiches, salads, and other convenience foods, plus special seafood offerings on Fridays.
