Toddlers & Pre-K: Although there are a few rides designed for those 5 and younger (one 4-year-old gleefully rode the Gwazi Gliders three times), the main draw for kids this age will be the animals. If you're traveling with young kids, save the park for a later visit and head to Lowry Park Zoo instead.

Pre-Teens & Teens: A visit here is sure to be the highlight of every older kid's Tampa visit. Ensure they'll be able to experience all of the rides by purchasing a Quick Queue ticket for your teen (additional $25 per person) so they can bypass the regular lines at the most popular rides.

Planning Notes

• Wear your quick-drying walking shoes. The park is vast and somewhat hilly, so comfortable shoes are a must. Make sure they're waterproof, too -- the water rides are delightfully wet.
• Let them entertain you. Consult the entertainment guide upon arrival. The park offers numerous short animal shows throughout the day that educate and amuse, and provide welcome relief for tired feet.
• Immerse yourself. Budding zoologists 5 and older can choose from one of several adventure tours that give kids an up-close experience with the park's wildlife. (Reserve in advance by calling 888-800-5447; additional fee required.)
