Central Florida Zoo Description
This zoo, off the beaten tourist track in Sanford, is a local favorite. The uncrowded space allows for quiet strolls while observing animals -- cheetahs, elephants, lemurs, howler monkeys, and a two-toed sloth (to name a few). Even the snake-phobic will be captivated when you slither over to the reptile exhibit to see endangered species like the Aruba Island Rattlesnake, the Florida Pine Snake, and the Eastern Indigo Snake up close -- it's sure to give your little lizard- and serpent-lovers a chilling thrill.
Kid Tips
Pre-Teens & Teens: Make stewardship of the earth and its animals a reality with the Adopt An Animal program ($35 and up). Have your child choose his or her favorite animal, and your donation will go toward the veterinary care of the animal. Includes an adoption certificate and photo of the animal.
Planning Notes
- America the great. Don't miss seeing the endangered American Bald Eagles, the national bird that will stir the patriotism in your family.
- Snack-free zone. Outside food and drink are not allowed (for the protection of the animals).
