WonderWorks Description
If you want to add a dash of "mad science" to your vacation, this is your stop. There's no mistaking that there's something unusual about this place -- especially since the entire museum is literally upside down. That's right, it's standing on its roof with its foundation in the air. Once inside, make a beeline to the earthquake simulator -- kids love being rattled by a 5.3 earthquake. Other exhibits include the flight simulator, where they can play virtual pilot of a fighter jet, and the bed of nails, where they find out what it feels like to lie on 5,300 nails ... ouch!

Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: They'll go nuts for the WonderCoaster, which allows kids to create their own roller coaster -- choosing corkscrews, flips, or barrels -- then "ride" it while sitting inside a simulator. It's also great for grown-ups trying to overcome their coaster fears!
Planning Notes
- Show time. Their comedy dinner show, featuring mind-boggling, how'd-they-do-that magic tricks, is appropriate for children. Making reservations is a good idea but they will take walk-ins if there's room.
- Open late. Everything's upside down and topsy-turvy here (in a fascinating, bend-your-brain way), including the hours. Keep WonderWorks in mind for teen night owls as it's a great place for some after-dark fun peppered with scientific thrills (even if the grown-ups refuse to let the clan stay till closing).
