Tortuga IV Fishing Party Boat Description
If you've got anglers (or budding ones) in your family, you probably already know that the catches of grouper, snapper and mackerel in Key West are among the best in the country. Since renting a private charter breaks most families' banks, a party boat is an affordable way to reel in tonight's dinner (which the crew will clean for you). On the new 65-foot Tortuga IV, you can sail right out of a convenient downtown marina. Its steadying catamaran hull offers a pretty smooth ride, and it's got a nice sunbathing deck for family members not into casting (bring a towel to lie on).
Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Kids who love fishing will treasure this trip.
Pre-Teens & Teens: What could be better than telling the kids back home about the one that got away?
Planning Notes
- Food options. Bring cold drinks and food in a cooler, or you buy them onboard.
- Sea sickness. Bring acupressure wristbands or motion-sickness medication if you're not sure how your kids fare at sea.
- Wear tons of sunscreen. You should bring a bottle with you -- the spray kind is best, because if lotion gets on your hands, fish may avoid anything you touch.
