Sunset Celebration Mallory Square Description
The crowd can be overwhelming during peak vacation weeks, but the festive atmosphere -- ending with the magnificent sunset into the Gulf of Mexico -- makes this a must-see. Vendors sell hand-made everythings, from food to T-shirts to high-end artwork. Performers vary, but typically include many geared for children -- jugglers, escape artists, comedians, and a man lying on a bed of nails. If he's there, seek out the all-time kid favorite, the Catman, whose felines jump through fiery hoops. A half hour before sunset, scramble to the edge of the dock so your kids can get a good view of the fiery finale without being blocked by taller heads.

Kid Tips
Babies: It can be tight to maneuver a stroller when cruise ships are in town or it's the height of the season.
Toddlers & Pre-K: You'll have to work hard to keep an eye on them in this raucous environment, but they'll love many of the shows.
School-Age Kids: Perfect for appreciating both the entertainment and the magnificent sunset.
Pre-Teens & Teens: If you let them wander around without you, they should have great fun (even if they don't admit it!).
Planning Notes
- Bring sunscreen. You'll still need it because the sun is strong (especially in spring and summer) even late in the day.
- Dress appropriately. This means clothes that can get dirty, since you'll spend some time sitting on the ground.
