Covent Garden Description
Cobblestoned streets where an old flower market used to stand, street performers, cafes, restaurants, craft markets, and charming little boutiques abound at Covent Garden, which is a lovely place to spend an afternoon with your kids. Stroll around and enjoy the open-air vendor selling rare coins and British handicrafts, and the theatrical street performers who will dazzle your kids by catching knives while wearing someone else's glasses and balancing on a skateboard, which is on top of a stool.
Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Don't miss the London Transport Museum, which is a huge hit with this age.
Pre-Teens & Teens: If your kid is a music fan, consider going to the Opera: The 1858 Royal Opera House is on the Piazza of Covent Gardens.
Planning Notes
- Check the Web site for special events. Easter Egg hunts for kids, and crafts workshops for children and adults.
- Ditch the stroller. The cobblestoned streets and crowds are a bit hard to navigate. There are bathrooms on the West Piazza by St. Paul's Church, and on Tavistock Place (to the right of the London Transport Museum) on the South Piazza, where there are baby-changing facilities.
