Ford's Theatre and Lincoln Museum Description
Best known as the place in which President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated in 1865, Ford's Theatre is one of the nation's most visited sites. Lincoln took great spiritual comfort in the theatre, reportedly attending Ford's more than a dozen times. It was reopened in 1968 and is now a live, working theater.
Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: Kids this age will especially be enthralled to stand in the same historic spot they've read about in school.
Planning Notes
- Tour the museum online. The museum portion of the theater is currently closed to the public. However, you can still get a peek at some of the more notable artifacts surrounding Lincoln's assassination by taking the Web site's virtual tour.
