Rock Creek Nature Center Description

If your little honeys like honey, head right to the observation beehive here -- some kids buzz with excitement watching the worker bees doing their job. Rock Creek Nature Center is just one part of Rock Creek Park, a slice of the outdoors in the midst of the city. There's a planetarium, programs for kids of all ages, and hiking trails, so bring sturdy shoes and get set to explore.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: Don't miss the Discovery Room, with hands-on activities for kids 2-5.

School-Age Kids: The park has a nice children's playground near the Maryland border.

Planning Notes

  • Junior explorers. At the Nature Center's front desk you can borrow a Discovery Pack before your hike. It contains binoculars, a field microscope, and a magnifying lens.
