Capitol Building Description
It's a monument! It's a working branch of government! It's a really big building where pre-teens and teens who've studied government get to see their elected representatives at work. Younger kids will love to test the acoustic properties of the National Statuary Hall's so-called "whispering gallery," where if you whisper on one side, someone on a spot on the other side will hear the whisper more clearly than someone closer by.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Call your local congressperson's office beforehand (a few weeks to a few months in advance is wise) to get tickets for the House and Senate Galleries if you're visiting when Congress is in session.
