Molly Brown House Description

Tour the home of the "unsinkable" Margaret "Molly" Brown, notable survivor of the Titanic and a spunky pre-feminism activist. Converted to a museum in 1970 (nearly 60 years after Brown's death), the home contains many Victorian artifacts and Brown family possessions, in addition to special exhibits on topics like Victorian-era underwear (sure to make kids giggle). Older kids will get a kick out of Brown's life story; younger kids will love the "Teddy Bear Tea" events -- just be sure to make reservations.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: While children are welcome on tours of the museum, talk to your little ones about looking but not touching, and about using their "listening ears" during the short tour.

School-Age Kids: Children of this age may be intrigued by the rich history of Molly Brown and her experience on the Titanic.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Brown was known for fighting for the underdog and breaking social barriers, which may impress and inspire teens.

Planning Notes

  • Summer tours fill up quickly. Call ahead to reserve a spot.
  • Keep parking in mind. A museum parking lot (free) is one block east at 13th and Pearl, but space is limited and the lot closes at 5 p.m., so try to arrive early enough to score a spot.
  • Prepare for stairs. The house was built in 1886, so don't expect any new-fangled elevators.
