Science World at Telus World of Science Description

Kids will have so much fun playing here that they'll forget they're learning. One 6-year-old boy was so mesmerized by the Sound exhibit at the entrance that he barely got through the front doors. Nature-loving kids won't want to leave the Search exhibit, where visitors crawl through a real beaver lodge and climb into an 800-year-old cedar tree. Hands-on explorers and inventors will love Eureka, where they'll shoot ball cannons into a waterfall, build dams, and lift their own body weight on a giant pulley.

Kid Tips

Babies: A quiet nursing area and rest room is conveniently located in the Kidspace exhibit.

Toddlers & Pre-K: Kids age 2-6 will have a ball (literally) in the Kidspace exhibit, with numerous fun hands-on exhibits and big toys. Bring tired kids to the story corner in the Sara Stern Gallery, a designated quiet zone with books and pillows and a rocking chair.

School-Age Kids: The Eureka exhibit provides endless hands-on fun for the school set.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids enjoy the mind-twisting effects of the Illusions exhibit.

Planning Notes

  • Take to the sky. The SkyTrain is a fun way to get to Science World, and stops just outside.
  • Dining options are available. Brown baggers can use the cafĂ© area before 11:30 a.m. or after 1:30 p.m. During peak hours, though, food service is provided by White Spot burgers, with many kid-friendly options.
  • The Bodyworks exhibit is not for sensitive viewers. Narration and images of nudity, sexuality, and childbirth are a great discussion starter for kids who are ready for this information. If you're not sure, check the Web site in advance for downloadable information about the Bodyworks exhibits on reproduction.
  • Catch a show. Science demonstrations are front and center here, and free with admission.
