Canyon Sainte-Anne Description

They won't be jazzed at first but when kids realize that there's more to this park than the water that rushes through it they'll perk up. From the lifesized wood carvings of animals (Photo Op!) to the Adventure X excursions which let kids age 10 and older rapel down the side of a small cliff, zipline over the canyon and walk on aerial bridges (all with a safety harness, of course) they'll soon change their tune. You'll get a day in the woods and the chance to join in an adrenaline rush.

Kid Tips

Babies: Opt for a carrier or a stroller (there are some gravel roads but most are paved pathways and the few steps are manageable) to tote baby around. Be prepared for a lot of walking and be mindful of loose terrain.

Toddlers & Pre-K: With plenty of steep cliffs in the area you'll want to keep an eye on little ones and not let them wander too far ahead.

School-Age Kids: Kids will forget they are hiking if you hand them a pencil and paper and set them lose on the "Rallye Roc-Ambolesque" Treasure Hunt challenge at the front of the park. The 45-minute walk requires them to read and answer questions from stories, do puzzles and more. They won't even realize they are learning Indian legends, French history and Greek mythology as they scramble from one challenge to the next.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Keep it active. Sign them up for a canyon climb trip, ziplining adventure or rappelling excursion and they'll stay happy.

Planning Notes

  • Bring the camera. Between the wood carvings, the stunning canyons, your daredevil kids and bridges suspended high above the waterfall you'll find plenty of reasons to snap some family photos.
  • Stay for lunch. There are plenty of picnic tables out front and tall shady trees make for pristine picnicking conditions. An on-site snack bar also offers affordable options.
