La Ronde Description

"The best," sighed an 8-year-old happily after spending nine hours at La Ronde. Only 10 minutes from downtown Montreal, La Ronde is a thrilling Six Flags-owned amusement park with over 40 rides and dozens of free shows. Little kids will enjoy Au Pas de Rimbaumbelle to the right of the entrance, where there's a tot-sized coaster and a butterfly bus that rotates up in the air. The thrills and chills are limitless for the older set, including the twisting Cobra and the mammoth Goliath, one of the highest and fastest coasters in North America.

Kid Tips

Babies: Admission is free for children under 3.

School-Age Kids: One of the best things about this amusement park is that there are plenty of moderate rides for kids not yet ready for the big guns. Try the Dragon, an indoor in-the-dark roller coaster, or the Super Manège, which twists upside down but is not as terrifying as the Vampire.

Planning Notes

  • See a show. XtreamO is an amazing group of acrobat divers who perform throughout the day. If you sit in front, you may get wet!
  • Take the Metro. The park is a 15-minute walk from either the Jean-Drapeau or Papineau stations, or you can take a city bus. If you drive, expect to pay an extra $15 parking fee.
  • Bring food. Unlike many other amusement parks, you are welcome to bring your own food. No coolers, glass, or aluminum containers are allowed, however.
  • Don't go if it rains. The rides close in stormy weather.
