Pointe-à-Callière Description
This museum makes history and archeology come alive through interactive stories, an amazing three-dimensional multimedia presentation that puts traditional documentary films to shame, fascinating displays (like lighted miniature models of Montreal at different times in history embedded into the floor that you walk over), and the chance to walk among the original walls, columns, and sewer drains of the city. The tower by the entrance has a panoramic view of Old Montreal with spyglasses that are just the right height for kids. Of Montreal's myriad museums, this one's not to be missed.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Children 3 and under are admitted free, but this activity is best for children over 7.
School-Age Kids: They will race ahead of their grown-ups. Let them lead you as they figure out the maze.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Young adults will enjoy doing this activity alone (if they're brave enough). Although it's fun for grown-ups, too, parents might want to skip paying the entrance fee and let teens do it on their own.
Planning Notes
- Don't skip the presentation. It's so well done you may want to watch it twice. There are shows throughout the day; check the schedule when you arrive.
- In Old Montreal. Combine this indoor activity with a stroll on the quays or a bike rental from Ça Roule.
