Ansel Adams Gallery Description
Ansel Adams, one of America's most famous photographers, is best known for his striking black-and-white photographs of Yosemite's iconic landmarks. At the gallery named for him (run by the Adams family since 1902), you'll find dozens of the photos that made him -- and, some would argue, Yosemite itself -- world-famous. Take home your Yosemite souvenir here. They offer posters, calendars, and reproductions of Adams' work and those of other artists, plus crafts, books, and photography supplies.
Planning Notes
- Take a tour. At the gallery, staff photographers offer free "camera walks" every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 9 a.m. during the summer. The photographers offer tips on composition, exposure and other basic information about using both digital and film cameras to capture your own memories of Yosemite.
- Check the Web site for special events. A variety of tours and workshops are offered through the gallery, though most are appropriate only for adults or teens with an interest in art or photography.
