The Pioneer Yosemite History Center Description
Young history buffs will have a great time walking around this collection of old buildings -- cabins, a horse stable, and a covered bridge -- that date back more than 100 years. (Originally scattered around the park, the various structures were moved here in the 1950s and '60s.) During the summer months, "actors" in period costume share stories about what life was like in the Yosemite Valley in the 19th century.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: There's plenty of space outside for them to run around.
School-Age Kids: They'll love exploring the buildings and walking over the authentic covered bridge to see just how different things were back then.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Kids this age will enjoy watching demonstrations of soap-making, yarn-spinning, rail-splitting, and other pioneer "crafts."
Planning Notes
- Bring the stroller. It's not difficult to push a stroller around the dirt paths within History Center.
- Go potty beforehand. There is a restroom near the parking area but not within the History Center.
