Lawrence Hall of Science Description
Do your kids ply you with questions like "how do flies see?" Are dinosaurs a popular theme in your house? One great advantage of having an internationally famous university in your town; you get an internationally famous science center as a result. Run by U.C. Berkeley, Lawrence Hall of Science was designed to introduce two through 18-year-olds to the joys of science, and it does so with the type of playfulness that only comes when people who love science set out to celebrate it with kids. Kid Tips
Babies: Surprisingly, the Hall of Science, as it's affectionately known, has plenty to keep even very young visitors entertained.
School-Age Kids: The space exhibits, planetarium, and plant and animal experiences have more sophisticated activities aimed at older kids. Nighttime star-watching outside is also a huge hit with older kids and preteens.
Planning Notes
- New exhibits opened in 2009: After being closed for weeks of renovations, The Hall of Science reopened in October, 2009 with spectacular new exhibits, such as "Facing Mars," where kids can experience what it's like to be in space. The museum may be crowded on weekends in the fall as locals flock to see the new exhibits.
