Pier 39 Description
Pier 39 is one of those tourist traps that locals love to hate -- except we, too, go there to see our beloved sea lions. They sprawl -- and brawl, and bark -- on the dock that runs along the west side of the pier. More sea life awaits at the revamped Aquarium of the Bay, where you walk through clear plastic tubes lying underneath the water's surface. Few kids can remain blase when face to face with a shark.
