Exploratorium Description

Think of it as the next best thing to a mad scientist's lab, except that all the answers to the "Whys?" about the world's workings are based on solid science! The Exploratorium explains—and demonstrates with hundreds of touchable exhibits that engage the senses—all the things you've ever wondered about, from how earthquakes happen, to why our eyes see color and our ears hear sound, to why we feel certain emotions and spatial perceptions. These hands-on interactive exhibits make science fun and understandable. In the Tactile Dome, kids crawl through pitch-black tunnels and chambers guided only by texture and touch.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: Kids 7 and older are sure to be delighted by the eeriness of the Tactile Dome.
