Yerba Buena Rooftop Gardens Description
Skip the Metreon (basically a high-tech shopping mall,) and instead come to this two-block-long rooftop oasis. There's something for kids of all ages, starting with the restored 1906 carousel rescued from Playland-at-the-Beach and a high-concept playground featuring a 25-foot tube slide. Dance, music, and theater performances -- and puppet shows -- are often going on outdoors or at nearby Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids will have a hard time choosing between the year-round NHL-sized ice skating rink, a bowling center, and Zeum, where they can make their own animations and multimedia presentations.
