Golden Gate Bridge Description
This one's simple: You have to do it to say you did. And, no, your kids won't let you get away with standing at one of the vista points and taking photos. Nothing equals the majesty of standing in the middle of the span and looking at San Francisco's skyline in one direction, the rolling hills of Marin in the other, and the tide sweeping out to the Pacific under your feet.

Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Little kids will have fun watching big freighters and precarious sailboats go by.
School-Age Kids: The bridge is an engineering feat. For kids who enjoy learning about how things work, you can find information about the bridge's construction on the southeast side by the Strauss Statue. (Joseph Strauss was the original chief engineer.)
Planning Notes
- Winds can be strong. Dress appropriately.
- Buy a souvenir. The Golden Gate Bridge Gift Center, located in the historic "Roundhouse" building on the southeast side of the Golden Gate Bridge Toll Plaza, sells all kinds of fun things.
