Review for Alcatraz Island

We took our 4 and 7 year olds here last July. Both kids loved the ferry ride, and they really enjoyed the prison tour. It's self-guided (they provide a great audio guide) so you can go at whatever pace your kids like. My older daughter listened to every word of the audio and got a lot out of it. The younger one skipped ahead a bit, but she still had a great time, and is still talking about how Al Capone went to prison because he broke the rules. If it's a clear day, the views from the island are also lovely.
Two caveats: you need to book this in advance, as they usually sell out ahead of time. And the weather can be chilly, even (or especially, actually) in the middle of summer, so dress appropriately.
