Reuben H. Fleet Science Center Description

Over 100 hands-on exhibits, many of them with the motto "do touch!," make this science center an exciting place for kids and fun for the whole family. Rotating exhibits include "Aging for All Ages" (complete with a video starring San Diego seniors) and "Making Sense of Sound." Everything is educational and intriguing at the same time.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: Start at Kid City, where kids up to 6 can play in a pretend grocery, a factory, Sammie's Science House, or just sit and read a book. There's also a book nook, a magnet wall, and computers for wee ones.

School-Age Kids: Kids have to be at least 40 inches tall to ride the motion simulator, but sensitive kids who meet the height requirement might find this ride too intense.

Pre-Teens & Teens: The planetarium shows and IMAX will please teens, as will the motion simulator ride and the museum's myriad fascinating exhibits.

Planning Notes

  • Go early. Even in the off-season this much-loved museum gets crowded. Plan your visit for the moment it opens or on a weekday.
  • Visit on a Family Science Day. They occur on the third Saturday of every month. Adults and kids work together on cool science experiments.
  • Be on time for IMAX. There's no late seating in the IMAX Dome Theater.
