San Andreas Faultline Adventure Jeep Tour Description
Kids will grin from ear to ear throughout this bouncing, bumping, thoroughly entertaining and educational tour of the San Andreas Fault zone. Knowledgeable guides engage kids with fascinating facts about the seemingly barren yet truly rich desert, interspersing survival tips and ecological lessons along the way. Kids will marvel at the desert oasis they'll explore and be intrigued by what they'll learn about the tools and customs of the Native Americans who first populated the valley, but nothing will compare to the thrill of standing amongst the massive fault gauge created by the fault's two colliding plates.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: The tour moves along at a steady but unhurried pace, which is perfect for the short attention spans of preschoolers. Car seats can be accommodated, but special arrangements must be made in advance.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Even older kids who initially scoff at the prospect of a three-hour tour of the desert will return brimming with enthusiasm about the experience and eager to share their new desert knowledge.
Planning Notes
- Dress in layers. Temperatures can rise and fall quickly as the sun rises and sets. Be prepared for cooler than expected weather by bringing a light jacket or sweatshirt.
- Sneak around. Although a majority of the tour is spent riding in the Jeep, participants do climb in and out to explore small sections of the desert. Sneakers are recommended.
- Snacks on board. Light snacks and cold water are provided during the tour.
