Rodeo Drive Description

Start where Rodeo Drive meets Wilshire Boulevard, then work your way up perhaps the priciest shopping street in America. Prada, Gucci, Versace, Tiffany -- they're all here -- and teens especially will get a kick out of seeing the playground of the rich and famous. Will you actually see a celebrity? It's possible, but you will definitely see some fancy cars and other conspicuous displays of wealth. The people-watching is great, and if you actually want to shop, the streets that run parallel to Rodeo (Beverly and Canon) have some stores with more reasonably priced merchandise.

Kid Tips

Babies: It's a great place to stroll with a baby.

Pre-Teens & Teens: This is the age group that will appreciate Rodeo Drive; younger kids, not so much. Teens hoping for a celebrity sighting? You'll have better luck on Robertson Blvd. between Third St. and W. Beverly Blvd. Just look for the paparazzi.

Planning Notes

  • Anytime is a good time to go. However, weekends are best for people- watching.
  • Look for signs for free parking. Beverly Hills has several municipal parking lots that offer free parking for a few hours.
  • If you have time. Check out the Paley Center for Media, a radio and television history museum, which is home to 140,000 programs (http://www.paleymediacouncil.org).
  • Fear not: affordable dining is nearby. The closer you get to Little Santa Monica Blvd., the more kid-friendly (and reasonably priced) restaurants you’ll find. For a real slice of Beverly Hills life, try Nate ‘n Al’s, a beloved Jewish deli on Beverly Blvd. The waitresses have been there since the beginning of time and they’re wonderful (and so is the food).
