Olvera Street Description
Originally a pueblo built by the founders of Los Angeles, Olvera Street is considered the birthplace of the City of Angels. Today it is one of the LA's most popular attractions and the center of the city's Hispanic culture. The vibrant village is rich with historic buildings and a thriving marketplace of boutiques, restaurants, and street vendors selling authentic Mexican arts and crafts. Sample smoky mole sauce and taquitos, shop for colorful handmade toys, and take in mariachi music and Aztec folk dancing on the weekends. Located downtown across from Union Station and just one block from Chinatown, Olvera Street is also the site of several major annual festivals including Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead).
