The Haunted Mansion Description
This loveably creepy establishment has been a favorite in the Disney empire since it opened in 1969. Accompanied by an amusingly eerie soundtrack, there are some amusing hair-raising moments. But it's all in good fun, with a focus on technical wizardry (check out that famous ballroom scene!) that draws most of the attention away from the fear factor. In fact, the ride has enough "How'd they do that?" moments to leave you scratching your head for hours after you leave.

Kid Tips
School-Age Kids: The ghostly theme is best for older kids, especially the elevator ride in the beginning. Expect some questions at the end about the "ghost" you're taking home.
Planning Notes
- Lines are long. The queue can look overwhelming if it spills out the front door, but the Haunted Mansion can accommodate a lot of people at once, and most lines move pretty fast.
- No height requirement. Little ones can come along -- if they're the types to enjoy spooky fun.

Wasn't into the Nightmare before Christmas
By peacebasket November 28, 2007 | Santa Monica
What we loved:
The elevator
What we didn't love:
All that nightmare before christmas stuff
I remember the haunted house from when I was a kid, and I was sooo scared ... but when we recently went back just this last October, it had been taken over by all this nightmare before christmas stuff, which was a movie I never much liked. Tooooo musical theatre for me.
So I was bummed ... I'll have to go back when it's back to normal.Read More
