Soarin' Over California Attraction Description

Disney created this simulated glider ride over the Golden State as a signature of its California Adventure theme park. A true novelty, Soarin' takes riders into the center of a giant panoramic film screen, where breezes, scents, and stunning footage combine to make you believe you're actually in the air. The view is thrilling, but the ride is gentle enough that even ride-o-phobes will want to get on board. The only complaint? It's just not long enough.

Kid Tips

Babies: Height requirement is 40". Parents with infants will have to do a baby swap to ride.

Toddlers & Pre-K: Young ones who make the cutoff need to measure up to a certain line on the seat; if they don't, use the "between the legs" strap in addition to the seatbelt.

School-Age Kids: Those who are not looking for adventure can try row 3, which stays closest to the ground.

Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids will no doubt want to maximize the thrills. Tell them to take a seat in row 1, which rises the highest in the air.

Planning Notes

  • Put shoes in the under-seat bins. They've been known to fly off during the film.
  • You're not moving. With the exception of some gentle swaying, movement in the attraction is an illusion.
  • Choose seats in the middle. End seats lose a little bit of the ride's magic.
  • Height requirement is 40 inches. Parents with infants will have to do a baby swap to ride.

What we loved:
Its peaceful and thrilling simultaneously

My 7 year old talks about this ride to everyone she meets. In many ways it is the opposite of something like Tower of Terror where there are lots of jerks, surprises and frights. This one is beautiful and youll find you have a smile plastered on your face the entire time. Read More
