Pirates of the Caribbean Description

Audio-Animatronic pirates along this landmark boat ride shoot cannons, polish off rum, and, as the song goes, "pillage, plunder, rifle, and loot." (But playfully, of course.) New to the adventure is Captain Jack Sparrow, whose eerily lifelike form will have you wondering if Johnny Depp himself is on board. Most amazing: After all these years, those hapless prisoners have not yet figured out how to get the keys from that dog. To fully appreciate the ambience (the indoor venue feels every bit the starry night at sea), enjoy a meal at the lovely Blue Bayou restaurant overlooking the ride.

Kid Tips

School-Age Kids: The ride is made for laughs, but the overall dark and creepy ambience (particularly at the start) is most entertaining to this age group. Those in the outer seats will get a little splashed and feel closest to the action. Though the boat ride starts with a surprise dip that makes you think a bigger plunge is just ahead, it's only a modest drop.

Planning Notes

  • Bring a sweater. Accuracy of setting includes cold and dampness.
  • Go early to avoid crowds. The popularity of the films has created renewed interest in the attraction.
  • All ages welcome. There is no height restriction.
  • Blue Bayou is popular. Call in advance for priority seating or expect a very long wait at the restuarant you can see from the attraction.
