History Museum
Pirates of Nassau Description
Like entering a stage set for a pirate movie, this interactive museum is a hokey good time, though you get a bit of a history lesson, too. And an interesting history it is—who knew pirates used to light bonfires on shore to trick ship captains into thinking they saw the lights of a harbor, then attack when the ship ran aground? Like a wax museum or Ripley's, the museum is full of multimedia pirate experiences, complete with a soundtrack of raucous piratical theatrics. You start your visit on a moonlit dock before boarding a replica of the pirate ship Revenge, where the expected bloody mayhem ensues.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: This attraction may be a bit too scary and "real" for kids under 3, especially if they are sensitive to loud noises.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Unless your kids are pirate fanatics, this museum is probably too young for them. They may like the gift shop, however, with its many trinkets with a high "cool" factor.
Planning Notes
- Piratical refreshment. Top off your visit with a glass of Pirate's Punch for mom and dad or a tropical drink for the kids in the adjoining pub.
