Aquaventure at Atlantis Description

This enormous resort and casino on Paradise Island features aquariums, shark lagoons, and pools with elaborate slides and waterfalls; in 2007 they added to the fun with Aquaventure, a 141-acre Mayan-themed water park. If enormous towering tube slides and body slides with names like the Serpent and Leap of Faith are too much for you, there's the mile-long Current ride through tropical jungles and caves. The thrills are non-stop thanks to an ingenious conveyor system that allows you to remain floating in your tube while it moves you from one ride to the next.

Kid Tips

Toddlers & Pre-K: Some of the more extreme slides are off-limits to younger kids, but Splashers, an interactive play structure with smaller slides, a dump bucket, and soakers, more than makes up for it.

School-Age Kids: A 48-inch height requirement may make the Power Tower and Mayan Temple slides off-limits.

Planning Notes

  • A major splurge. At $110 for adults and $75 for kids, a family visit here will set you back several-hundred dollars in passes alone.
  • Keep costs down by bringing your own food. Once you're within the bounds of the Atlantis resort, food is notoriously expensive -- $8 slices of pizza and $20 sandwiches. So pack a picnic in your backpack, along with plenty of water and drinks.
  • Leave time to catch the ferry to Paradise Island. You can get to Paradise Island two different ways, by driving across the bridge that connects the island with New Providence or by taking the ferry from Nassau. Take the ferry, which leaves every 30 minutes from Woods Rodgers Wharf next to Festival Place ($6 per person) and enjoy the ride while saving on parking.
