Balloon Ride
Hot Air Expeditions Description
What's up in the Sonora Desert? Well, for starters, your family is as they fly above the sands in a hot air balloon. You'll get to watch the balloon being inflated and then climb aboard to get a birds-eye view of desert plant and animal life, from trees and cactus to roadrunners and coyotes. Even the most doggedly bored teens will have to admit it's cool. The flight ends with a ceremony to welcome you back to earth, and a gourmet meal to celebrate your ballooning experience.
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: Minimum age is 5.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Got picky eaters? Check the breakfast and hors d'oeuvres menus on the Website. The company can adapt the menu on request.
Planning Notes
- Recharge your camera. There's literally no end to the spectacular photo opportunities.
- Dress appropriately. Wear close-toed shoes (not sandals) for safety reasons, and bring a light jacket or sweater in the winter months -- the desert cools off quickly when the sun's not around.
- Get in shape. The gondolas (the baskets in which you ride) have no doors, so be prepared to jump in and out.
