Papago Park Description
Get outdoors! Hiking trails, bike paths, and fishing ponds give your family space to enjoy outdoor activities in an unspoiled stretch of Arizona desert. Trail lengths vary to accommodate different families' needs. An interpretive nature trail teaches you about desert plants interspersed along a half-mile loop, a short enough trek for even the youngest hikers. More adventurous visitors won't want to miss the 825-foot trail up to Hole-in-the-Rock, a butte that offers views from about 100 feet up.

Babies: Set out on the Eliot Ramada Trail, which runs 3 miles out and back across a paved road that's an easy walk for parents pushing strollers.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Anyone 14 or older needs a license to fish in the park. Purchase one at local sporting goods shops.
Planning Notes
- BYO food and drink. There are no shops or eateries in the park, so be sure to bring bottled water and snacks with you.
- Don desert gear. It's hot in the desert. Don't forget sunglasses, hats, and sunscreen year-round.
- Get equipped. Bring whatever equipment you'll need for the activities you have planned. There are no rentals of bicycles or fishing equipment.
- See even more. The Desert Botanical Garden and Phoenix Zoo are on the park grounds.
