Skywalk Description
A glass bridge that spans a side canyon, the Skywalk was envisioned by creator David Jin as a chance to experience the Grand Canyon as an eagle sees it. Although it's a five-hour drive from the south rim, don't debate if it's worth it: there's no question that this will be one of those experiences the kids tell their class about when they get home. Open only since March 2007, the skywalk has already hosted more than 200,000 visitors. Tickets are sold as a package that includes a shuttle with stops at several overlooks and a horse-and-carriage ride at the Hualapai Ranch.

Planning Notes
- Unpaved roads. As of October 2007, the primary access road is still unpaved and fairly rough for 15 miles. There is a Park and Ride service available from Dolan Springs, Ariz., which is a two-hour drive from Las Vegas, if you're coming from that direction. (Visit destinationgrandcanyon.com for details.)
- Big kids only. Children under 4 are not permitted on the Skywalk, so you or your spouse (or an older child) will have to stay behind with your toddler while the rest of the troop checks it out.
