Xanterra Parks & Resorts Description
One of the most popular family mule excursions is the one-day Plateau Point ride, which departs daily from the Stone Corral at the head of Bright Angel trail. This is best for those who want to experience the Canyon rocking along on the back of a mule (not the smoothest of rides) for seven hours over steep and rough terrain. During brief stops the mules rest every 30-45 minutes, but riders don't dismount. Water and restroom facilities are available at Indian Garden, about 2 1/2 hours down the trail. Tickets run upwards of $100 a piece, so this is a splurge, although well worth it for the memories and photo ops. Two-day trips with an overnight stay are also popular.

Planning Notes
- Mule rides can sell out. If you're planning to visit the park in the summer, make sure to book this ride well in advance. They offer waiting lists, as well.

What we loved:
When I left and went to Phoenix
What we didn't love:
Parking, parking, parking
When we arrived had to go to the Bright Angel to check in could not find a place to park. When we checked in we had to find a place to park to unload our car. Could not find a place to park. When we did we had to carry all of our belongings to the room from the parking place in the street a very long distance to our room. No place to park for loading and unloading. When we arrived in our room it smelled very musty, the room was old and dated, it felt to me like a college dorm situation. We ate at the Angel Bright restaurant, the eggs were cold and the potatoes were gray mush. I would not recommend this place to anyone.br/br/Note: We were there in March when it was not suppose to be busy. Too much snow and too many cars with no parking spaces near your room. Read More
