West Rim Drive Description

A 7-mile stretch of road located between the historic Grand Canyon Village and Hermit's Rest, the West Rim (also called Hermit's Road) is not to be confused with the newly developed area known as Grand Canyon West, which is a five-hours drive away. Beware, the 16-mile round trip will take you longer than you expect, because you'll need to keep stopping for photo ops!

Kid Tips

School-Age Kids: Give budding photographers their own disposable cameras so they can snap the scenery from the back seat.

Planning Notes

  • Bring water and snacks. If you take the shuttle bus there are seven stops between start and finish, and none offer food or beverages.
