Grand Canyon Village Description
A collection of restored historic buildings, almost all of which are designated national landmarks, Grand Canyon Village is like a fun science and history lesson. The bookstores, art exhibits, and demonstrations at Kolb and Lookout studios, both early 20th century photographic studios, have plenty of entertaining exhibits and cool things to buy; science-minded kids will love the old photographic gear and the telescope at Lookout. Train fans won't want to miss the arrival of the Grand Canyon Railroad and restored engine number 18, which usually arrives around noon. The elegant lobby of the El Tovar hotel is worth a peek even if you don't eat there, and the view from Bright Angel Lodge is worth a stop, even if you aren't taking a mule ride. (It's where they begin.)

Pre-Teens & Teens: The exhibit at Yavapai Observation Station nearby will capture the interest of teens and older kids, who can compare the layers of rock to diagrams explaining the geological origins.
