Iditarod Sled Dog Rodeo Description
Kids and grownups alike will laugh and cheer at this action-packed show, hosted by the Iditarod legend Seavey family and performed by champion racing dogs who live to run. Root for your favorite musher in a sled race around the arena, watch a spirited 16-dog team pull a 10,000 pound truck and meet Husky dog Hugo, star of the movie "Snow Buddies." But the best part is at the end, when you get to cuddle tiny Iditarod puppies from the kennel.
Kid Tips
Babies: The tram is free for kids ages 3 and younger.
School-Age Kids: It's OK to bring snacks or warm drinks.
Pre-Teens & Teens: Older kids might enjoy the dinner served before and after the evening show. It's not about the food as much as it is the chance to meet and talk with the Iditarod racing Seavey family, who are more than happy to share stories and answer questions about life as a musher.
Planning Notes
- Reservations are recommended. Call ahead for reservations.
- Bring a camera. You won't want to miss taking pictures of your kids holding adorable sled dog puppies.
- Bring a jacket. The arena is outdoors, and night time shows can get especially chilly.
- Seward, too. If your travel plans include Seward, the Seavey Family also owns a sled dog operation there for those who prefer to experience riding first hand.
