Colter Bay Campground Description

Colter Bay is the big daddy campground in Grand Teton National Park. It's not an intimate camping experience, but it's still set against the backdrop of Jackson Lake and the Tetons, and the convenience simply can't be beat. Choices range from camping in a tent (site G137 has a lake view), trailer, RV, "tent cabin," or historic log cabin. Amenities within walking distance include a grocery store, coin operated showers and laundry, two restaurants, a marina, and a national park visitor center. There are myriad spur trails leading to the shores of Jackson Lake, and you can reach the Swan Lake/Hermitage Point trailhead from Colter Bay Village, too.

    • Visit the museum. The Colter Bay Visitor Center is a short walk from the campground. Inside you'll find an Indian arts museum kids will enjoy exploring; look for the displays featuring real toys and infant-sized moccasins downstairs.

What we loved:
location, views, conveniences, wildlife

What we didn't love:
pricey, can be busy

This is our favorite campground in Grand Teton. The views are outstanding, there's a restaurant, convenient store, gas, marina, huge lake, trails and other things right in the same complex. Lots of wildlife in the area and a good location for those travelling between Yellowstone and Grand Teton. We learned about and saw the campground here: Get your HTML codes here!

The place just has a great feel. Great for the entire family. There are also cabins for rent which are quaint but really nice. You cannott go wrong with this campground. The only negative is it can be crowded during peak times and the price of the campsites.Read More
