Gros Ventre Campground Description
Camping at Gros Ventre (pronounced "grow VANT") feels like you've got the Tetons all to yourself. Despite its large size (more than 150 sites), there's an intimacy and quietude here, bordered by the Gros Ventre River on one side and the Teton range on the other. For an even more peaceful stay, ask for a tent site in Loops F and G, where noisy generators are prohibited. Sites 221-230 (across from Loops F and G) offer a peek at the Teton peaks through the trees for tent campers; ask for Loop A if you're camping in an RV.

Planning Notes
- Shower elsewhere. There are no shower facilities at Gros Ventre; the nearest facilities are at Colter Bay Village, 37 miles north.
- Firewood for sale. Buy firewood by the box at the campground office or gather your own, so long as it's already fallen (it's against park regulations to cut standing vegetation).
- Get some grub. The nearest groceries and camping supplies are available at South Jenny Lake (18 miles north). There's a little coffee shop in the nearby town of Kelly with a minimal amount of last-minute gear for sale (matches, propane, and the like), and great bagels and coffee.
- Check your Teewinot. The park newspaper visitors receive when entering Grand Teton National Park lists ranger-led programs, including nightly campfire talks held at the Gros Ventre campground amphitheater.

Reviews of Gros Ventre Campground
Fairly nice campground
By wolv90 July 18, 2009
What we loved:
Lots of camp sites, lots of wildlife
What we didn't love:
a bit far from the base of the Tetons
This campground is pretty nice, and it's the closest campground in the park to Jackson Wyoming, which means supplies are never far away. We found the facilities to be clean and well maintained. The sites don't offer much privacy but they are spacious and pretty. We found there was a great deal of moose and elk in the area, so keep your eyes peeled! We used this page so we could see the campground before going, and were not disappointed:
Gros Ventre Campground
We found it to be a solid family atmosphere. It is in the park itself.Read More
