Hickory Hill Family Camping Resort Description
When this camp resort is in full swing (from May to September) it's a town in itself, complete with on-site spa and wellness center. Kids, many of whom are repeat customers, take over the miniature golf course, game room, pools (one is heated), and fields. Older kids will like the disk golf and geocaching activities, as well as the game room/arcade. Parents love the new, clean restrooms and wifi access.
Kid Tips
Babies: You'll appreciate the newly renovated shared washrooms/showers on site, which are super clean and come complete with benches that make handling baby a breeze.
Pre-Teens & Teens: There is an onsite arcade that your kids are sure to find. Keep them outdoors by encouraging them to make use of the mini-golf area and open fields instead.
Planning Notes
- BYOP (Bring Your Own Pet). Fido is welcome and there is plenty of room for him to roam. In fact, you can bring any and all of your pets, but be prepared to pay an extra $20 sanitizing fee to cover the costs of cleanup once you're gone.
- BYOB (Bicycle). Pedal carts are available for rent ($5 for 30 minutes or $8 for an hour), but no bikes. If you bring your own, know that there is no paved path, but staying on the resort roads isn't hard to do. Helmets are required by law for kids under 14. You can borrow one free of charge at the on-site store.
- BYOL (Linens). Don't think that upgrading to the lodge or cabins means that everything is provided. You'll still need to pack linens for your bed, towels, and toiletries. Check the website for bed sizes.
- BYOF (Food). The on-site store has pretty much anything you may forget (marshmallows, milk, mosquito repellant), but you'll find a bigger selection in town at the local grocery store.
- Time it wisely. You'll meet plenty of other families during the summer months, but the site is a virtual ghost town weekdays after kids go back to school in September. Theme weeks throughout the summer allow you to time your trip to meet the interests of your family.
