Review for The Belvedere Hotel
Great place for families at Christmas time!
The Belvedere Hotel in New York City, NY

What we loved:
Convenience to area attractions
What we didn't love:
Sometimes you could smell fish being cooked in the restaurant...
We stayed here as a family group 3 rooms before Christmas in 2007. It was festively decorated outside, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The gift shop was a huge draw for the kids, and it has a lot to choose from for city souvenirs. And the prices are good -even for a Mom who is kind of a tightwad. Theres a diner around the corner that serves tasty, home-cooked food at very reasonable prices. This made our stay more enjoyable, as we didnt have to search out a new place to eat breakfast at each morning. Go to the Olympic Diner and have the pancakes, or a giant blueberry muffin, and you wont be sorry. Of course, they serve lots more than that! We dont have adventurous eaters in our family, sad to say. Anyway, the hotel comes with my recommendation. We were able to walk to the Broadway shows we had tickets for, as well as the Rockefeller Bldg., Good Morning America, and Times Square Toys R Us. The kids didnt complain about having to walk that much, because we were in the center of things, and there was so much to look at while we walked. The beds were very comfortable, and there was a kitchenette in each room. The bathrooms werent large, but they were big enough for our family of 4 not to feel stifled in. And we had the smallest room of the 3 our group stayed in.
