The Sagamore Description
This full-service grand dame of Lake George is indeed the best of both worlds. The restored lakeside main house is the timeless picture of posh, with pools, spa, boating and more. But sit on the waterfront porch of one of the lodges (the ideal rooms for families) and it feels like a secluded cabin in the woods.
Planning Notes
- Prime space. Rooms in the main house are fluffier, but the lodge is where families (particularly those with young children) will feel most at home.
- Prices vs. Comfort. Lake views only come with rooms in the main house, or suites in the lodges. If you can skip the view and your goal is just to enjoy the spoils of the resort (and there are a lot), opt for a double/double in the lodges, a one-room setup that can accommodate a family of four with either parking lot or grassy views.
- No car required. The hotel sits on an island just a bridge away from town. In summer, there's just nothing better than walking to town, enjoying dinner and the ambience, and walking home.
- Long distance. Some rooms are farther from the main house than others, a few requiring the complimentary shuttle. Ask exactly what you're getting when making reservations.
