Eagle Mountain House Description

This historic resort sits majestically on a hillside with magnificent mountain views—like your wealthy grandmother's vacation house on steroids. It's grand but not overwhelming in size, and off the beaten path yet still convenient to hiking, restaurants, and attractions. Two restaurants on-site, tennis, golf, and (what really matters to kids) a heated outdoor pool. Walk to scenic Jackson Falls to cool off on a hot day, relax in a rocking chair on the 280-foot long porch, or hike Eagle Mountain (just out the back door).

Planning Notes

Eat up. A full breakfast is included.
Upgrade. Book a room with a mountain view; it's worth the extra $20.
Old-fashioned cooling. There's no air conditioning, but there are fans in every room.
Extra bed? Ask in advance if you'll need a roll-away bed to make sure your room can accommodate one.
Have a date night. The staff can arrange babysitting.
