Velas Vallarta Description

A fabulous pool is the lynchpin of a perfect family hotel, and the one at Velas in Puerta Vallarta won't disappoint kids dreaming of adventureland. Winding "rivers" connect three separate pools, each with its own personality — one has a swim-up bar and built-in loungers, one is shallower for kids, and one is set apart for those who want a quieter experience. During our visit, kids of all ages were finding lots of creative ways to have fun with the series of arched bridges over the rivers and a short but very fast slide. Even more exciting, though, are the two-foot-long iguanas that inhabit the lush groves of palm and hibiscus; where else, we asked ourselves, can you sit in a pool with a fruity drink in one hand and feed an iguana from the other? Another plus is the all-suite nature of Velas; the double rooms are big and airy, the menus at the three restaurants are varied and international, and the staff pays careful attention to service.
