Melia Puerto Vallarta Description

A Spanish chain, Melia has a more authentic Latin feeling than most of the other all-inclusive resorts. The décor is bright, the staff friendly, the pools loosely policed and set up for nontsop hijinks, with fountains, multiple swim-up bars, and festive, if loud, music. The activity center is right next to the pool and the staff organizes a steady stream of games, contests and other activities, so "I'm bored" doesn't come out of anyone's mouth, even a blasé teenager's. What's particularly impressive about Melia is how attentively the staff caters to multigenerational families; there are kids' programs for younger kids, organized dances and sports to lure older kids, a spa and health center for mom and dad, and facilities and activities for grandma and grandpa, too.

Planning Notes

  • Yabba-Dabba-Doo. At check-in, Fred Flintstone, Barney Rubble, and Dino welcome children at the Flintstones Land. Throughout their stay, kids take part in a vacation right out of Bedrock, enjoying venues such as the Yabba-Dabba-Doo Bazaar, Rocadventure for thrill-seekers and Rocaflash where you can take prehistoric pictures. Kids enjoy activities all day long in one of three clubs: Baby Rock Club (4 months to 4 years old), Bamm-Bamm Club (5 to 8 years old) and Cool Club (9 to 13 years old).
  • All taken care of.The majority of amenities, activities, and gratuities at this resort are included in the room rate; guests are not charged extra for on-site meals, drinks, activities, entertainment, and use of non-motorized water-sports equipment.
