Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort Description
The glee on kids' faces is unmistakable: wide eyes, enormous grins, voices shrieking with joy—and that's just the ride to the top. Jiminy's newfangled spring/summer Mountain Coaster literally raises the bar on the alpine slide genre, laying elevated tracks down the length of a ski slope and sending rider-steered cars (the feint of heart can share a vehicle and let someone else do the driving) careening down drops, around corners, and through the course at a top speed of 23 MPH (trust us—it's faster than it sounds). Fun? Scary? Thrilling? Yes!
Kid Tips
Toddlers & Pre-K: With few exceptions, Jiminy is for the five-and-up set. You won't pay for the little ones, but they won't have much fun, either.
Pre-Teens & Teens: The park is made for them. Expect them to want to stay forever.
Planning Notes
- More to love. Jiminy in summer offers a whole landscape of things to do, including the fabled Alpine Super Slide (it's been around for generations), a climbing wall, and bungee trampoline.
- Abbreviate the wait. You'll find considerably shorter lines in May and June, when vacationers are still scarce.
- Watch from the sidelines. The patio is a perfect place to grab food from the on-site restaurant or to sip a soda while watching kids enjoy the action. Food brought from home can be enjoyed on the picnic benches spread around the grounds.
- Beware of lines. Mountain Coaster lines start at the base of the slope, making it easy to gauge their length. Lines for the Alpine Super Slide, on the other hand, are longest at the top (the lines to get on the chairlift up are rarely long). Ask the chairlift operator about the slide's line at the top before heading up.
- Night rider. Ask about discounted passes for visitors after 5 p.m.
